A seventh studio album, Lifelines, was released in 2002, and an eighth album, Analogue, in 2005, was certified Silver in the UK – their most successful album there since 1990's East of the Sun, West of the Moon. įollowing a performance at the Nobel Peace Prize Concert in 1998, the band returned to the studio and recorded their sixth album, 2000's Minor Earth Major Sky, which was another number-one hit in Norway and resulted in a new tour. In 1994, after their fifth studio album, Memorial Beach, failed to achieve the commercial success of their previous albums, the band went on a hiatus. In the UK, Hunting High and Low continued its chart success into the following year, becoming one of the best-selling albums of 1986. Billboard album chart yielded two international number-one singles, " Take On Me" and " The Sun Always Shines on T.V." and earned the band a Grammy Award nomination as Best New Artist. That album peaked at number 1 in their native Norway, number 2 in the UK, and number 15 on the U.S. The group initially rose to fame during the mid-1980s after being discovered by musician and producer John Ratcliff, and had continued global success in the 1990s and 2000s.Ī-ha achieved their biggest success with their debut album, Hunting High and Low, in 1985. The band was founded by Morten Harket (vocals), Magne Furuholmen (keyboards) and Pål Waaktaar (guitars).
Thanks for reading, I've spent WAY too much time looking at this but hey, if they're gonna even half-build a world, I want to explore it.A-ha (stylized a-h a Norwegian pronunciation: ) was a Norwegian band formed in Oslo in 1982. I feel like it ties into the themes of paranoia well, and my personal interpretation is that it could be Señor Flamingo/Dieter Meyers' response to being exposed in Blitzregn Baby ( And I read the manual, I know my ABC/It's all relative, it just depends on who's watching/You can make a phone call/and I'll never work here again/But I know I still have work in the KGB)ĭie Polizei was said to follow Vicente's escape from DMI, Delikatessen seems to be from a non-character POV as it refers to Vicente in the past tense (Implying that even after his escape, DMI is still operational and ruining things) Maestro is fairly straightforward, though I'm not certain what to make of KGB. After all, Maestro was the tightest of the first 3 albums as far as plot goes. Min Kvite Russer, Til Depotet, Djevelens Orkester, & Veterans Klage are some that I'm not so certain about with respect to the narrative, though they could be more for flavor than plot. But in practice, he himself controls the mafia until he falls asleep quietly as a blind old man in the song 'Sonny' In this the song he presents a ruthless deputy at name Señor Torpedo that gives you everything you ask for. He is the I-person and directs the show throughout the Eternal Pint. Sonny has a "right hand", a man on the outside. The family business is flourishing and screaming for someone who can take over for Sonny. The text raises questions about who can take over the mafia throne after Sonny, who was the victim of a conspiracy in the song "Hevnervals", ended up with life in prison and death sentence in the song "Drom Hardt". Rough translation of the Señor Torpedo section in the booklet:
Kaizers orchestra merchandise how to#
I'm not quite sure how to square that interpretation with the repetition of " Å Sonny, du er min egen Sonny", but that seems to be what Kaizers had in mind. Kind of a shame that the whole body-double-for-Tony thing doesn't go anywhere as far as I know, but I guess it could be that its lack of viability is what spurs Dominique to run.Įvig Pint seems to be the story of Sonny being framed for whatever reason, Señor Torpedo taking over for him & subsequently hunting down Those Involved. Marcello Conradas is kidnapped and forced into the mines after Dekk Bord, some mafia stuff happens (Kontroll & Ompa can kind of go wherever, chronologically) & the focus shifts to Dominique getting Tony Fusciante killed & becoming a "priest" in order to start over/survive War stuff in 170 and Bris* mostly for flavor. If anyone is still here, would anyone care to talk about the stories of the first three albums?Īfter going over the lyrics and using google to translate some of the Våre Demoner booklet, I feel like I have a reasonably good handle on Ompa, as loose as that album is, plot-wise.
